The West Coast Baits Variant Series is our take on the urchin-style finesse bait, engineered for anglers looking to show pressured fish something different.
Each Variant is molded from our premium naturally buoyant PVC material, giving the bait a lifelike hover and allowing the tentacles to pulse with the slightest movement.
Its round center body and ultra-responsive free-moving tentacles create the appearance of a compact bait ball that pulses, breathes, and comes alive with every twitch, shake, and pause.
Our favorite way to fish the Variant is like a soft plastic jerkbait. Rig it on a 1/8 oz jighead, twitch it 3–5 times, then let it pause on a semi-slack line. Most bites come as the bait hovers and settles, with the tentacles continuing to pulse naturally even after the bait stops moving.
